Burlesque icon Dita von Teese wearing a 3D-printed designed by Francis Bitonti in collaboration with Shapeways and costume designer Michael Schmidt
It’s hard to believe that this dress was built using a 3D printer. Designer Francis Bitonti has shifted how we look at the idea of creation. He is stepping outside of the box, throwing away the needle and thread (probably his Singer* as well). By teaming up with MakerBot, a New York-based company founded in January 2009, Bitonti has created a masterpiece of design entitled Cloud which was unveiled on April 4:
The capsule collection offers four decorative housewares, or rather, the code for these items. By modifying one aspect of the code, consumers can decide how much noise or relief appears on the surface of a vase or bowl, resulting in a customized purchase.
Francis Bitonti Studio will directly sell data files of 3D printables, beginning with home goods April 2014 and will transition into accessories Fall 2014. Each item is customizable, and consumers have the option to use a sliding scale to adjust the look of the piece.
“Our aim is to embed the properties of digital media into physical realities,“ explained founder Francis Bitonti. “We’ve created products that are hackable, shareable, and downloadable, which enables us to bring the consumer customizable, locally produced products on demand and without excess waste, resulting in a low-carbon foot print.” After 3D printing, the product can be picked up directly from the hub producer or it can be locally shipped. All products are designed to be printed on a MakerBot® Replicator® Desktop 3D Printer.

Please enjoy this final post from this weeks Western Canada Fashion Week. Thank you to Sandra Sing Fernandez for allowing me to capture the essence of Edmonton’s fashion scene.
Being a fashion blogger in Edmonton, you get to meet some fascinating and passionate people. It’s not just fashion lovers, it’s media, photographers, friends and family, visitors to Edmonton and of course aspiring designers. Western Canada Fashion (WCFW) is the perfect venue to bring our community together. I am honoured to capture this for Edmonton.
Forgive the poor iPhone quality of this video, but you can enjoy the amazing show from last night’s Western Canada Fashion Week showcase. This video features Calgary designer Averynthe by Mark Abenir, Bano eeMee outerwear designs by Aleem Arif, and the full showcase of LUXX Ready to Wear by Derek Jagodzinsky.
The show last night featuring Anika Designs took my breathe away! From the couture, the performance and the music, Anika sure knows how to put on a show. Styled by Amandeep Matharu of Deep Mode new just the amount of sass to put on a good show!
It’s always nice to have that East Indian flare to a show as big as Western Canada Fashion Week. Below is a video of Javeda By Aman Dhalay, a Calgary based designer who has wowed the crowd at last night’s show.

Eenie…Meenie…Miney…Nevermind, you all need a hair cut!
Last night I had the privilege to try out Christina Dominelli Salon! I knew it would be glamorous based on my friend Nick’s somewhat bias opinion, but I had to check it out for myself. It wasn’t hard to find, located at 10557-124 Street, this salon has everything you could possibly want and need!
As far as first impressions go, my initial wide-eye moment was the floor to ceiling windows upon the entrance letting in so much natural light, you feel like you’re outside! With scented candles greeting you and an incredible playlist, I felt right at home. My initial consult with Nick was a funny one, with long hair like mine, I’m the perfect canvas for stylists to chop it all off and make a masterpiece of angles and colour.
However, my first words were “please keep the length!!” with the most terrified look on my face.
After he rolled his eyes, he agreed, but not without first selling me onto a hair rejuvenation treatment by Shu Uemura that would make my hair sparkle, retain moisture and look dazzling, of course it’s coupled with an incredible 15-20 minute head massage that could put anyone to sleep.
The shampoo station was like a mini spa, the most incredible massage chairs (not the tacky ones you’d find at a nail salon), Tom Dixon pendent lighting, and the feeling like you’re going to be in good hands for the rest of the day. Nick has had some incredible training, to get to those pressure points in my head and neck, would make anyone’s headache or knot in their neck disappear! (Thank you!)
One of the highlights is in the centre of the salon, no doubt what would make this place event cooler is the built-in stage coupled with a runway on hydraulics! So you can count on the salon to host many fashion shows showing off their incredible talent!
And lastly, what I love most is their mission:
To bring innovation and inspiration to every artist that walks through the door.
To have our guests feel a sense of well-being and comfort.
To be consciously aware of our health, well-being, environmental and ethical responsibilities.
To produce innovative leaders and provide quality in our craft.
To be the artist that takes you on a journey and leaves you with an experience.
To always represent dignity and passion.
Most of all…
To always respect the beauty in it all…
and never forget to be a little CRAZY…

FORMER MISS WORLD TALKS ABOUT BEING THE NEW GUESS GIRL!
America, feast your eyes on a Bollywood superstar, model and actress, Priyanka Chopra, the new Guess girl! It’s not hard to believe that India is home to some of the most beautiful women on the planet. It is hard to believe, however, that it took this long for a brand as big as Guess to pick one of them up!
Chopra said she was hand-selected by Paul Marciano, Guess’ president, after he met her and immediately dubbed her the new Sophia Loren. Since Marciano’s last model of choice, Kate Upton, has become the poster child for glamorous bombshell beauty, we have no doubt that Chopra will be the name on everybody’s lips come December when her Guess campaign breaks in fashion magazines.
“I’m not too American and I’m not too Indian, but I’m a global citizen,” she says, “and that’s what most people are today. And I don’t want to have to change who I am to try and fit in or cater to a certain audience.”
Chopra proudly portrays femininity, sex appeal, and a little old Hollywood glamour, which makes for the perfect Guess model.
