Red Soles for my Red Soul

Christian-Louboutin-Colour-Rouge-David-Lynch-banner-at-saks

You’ve most likely seen this already but I have been dying to get my hands on this new Rouge Louboutin nail lacquer.

In 1992, the shoe industry was revolutionized by one man, Christian Louboutin. The designer, as most of you know, ripped a bottle of nail lacquer off his assistant’s desk on a whim and slathered it on the sole of a prototype shoe just to give it a little pizzaz! Next thing you know, woman all over the world are donning this iconic fashion statement.

Louboutin, mimicked the stiletto heel on the ballet shoe he designed as the cap of the nail varnish, coupled with the signature Louboutin red, he introduces Rouge Louboutin. Available in 30 shades, the designer lacquer can be purchased at a hefty price of $50, but with the cost of a $700 pump, it’s almost a bargain!

Fit For a Queen

Meet Letizia Ortiz: Spain’s new ‘middle-class Queen’

We have all been seeing Letizia and Felipeheadlines gracing every media outlet with images of the newest Queen of Spain, Queen Letizia. Move over Kate Middleton, looks like there’s some royal competition between the commoner turn royal in Europe.

Letizia Ortiz a former journalist, married to Prince Felipe, has been one to talk about with her impeccable fashion sense. From gowns fitted in luxurious fabrics to silk pants and splashes of colour, this Queen will be one to watch.

While Spanish media has been tracking the royal couple throughout their courtship and 10-year marriage, Felipe and Letizia have  been fully catapulted into the public eye now that Juan Carlos has handed over the throne to his son.

Moon Sun Fire | It’s Time to Bloom

Moon Sun Fire

Over this last weekend in April, I took part in a 3 day Kundalini, Sattva and meditation experience with It’s Time to Bloom. This journey, tapping into a new experience, was enlightening as it created strength and emotions in me I didn’t know existed. By channeling the planetary elements you harness awareness and focus onto the root of a healing process. When you’re in a room full of yogi’s, the energy has run wild, there was an aura of light around everyone.

What is Kundalini? Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan ® is also known as the Yoga of Awareness; its focus is on self-awareness and delivering an experience of your highest consciousness. The technology of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan ® is a science of the mind and body, to elevate the spirit, which has no boundaries, no discrimination. Therefore it is for everyone, universal and nondenominational.

Now, I’m not a connoisseur of yoga, but I appreciate using the weight and strength of your breath and body to practice or to meditate. This wasn’t a $1 Yoga Mat for Sale situation by any means, I felt as though I finally learned what discipline is. Once I learned that I would be sitting cross-legged for some time I had to really push past the pain and listen to what my head and what my heart was telling me. Don’t get me wrong, I think I screamed internally after I lost all feeling in my legs during one of the kundalini sequences on the first day. However, going into the second day, I knew what to expect, and I persevered through the meditation…one of which turned out to be a 31 min sequence (!). I must say, that throughout this weekend, I feel as though I have been transformed. It wasn’t until Day 3, that I truly felt the significance of this workshop and the energy in the room was so powerful you could feel everyone vibrating next to you.

I’ve been able to hone in on my breath and my ability to try something new and educate myself. The number one thing I took away from this experience is to have an open mind, believe in myself and know that there’s something bigger than just being. The power we have within is so strong, I feel humbled and honoured to have been apart of it.

Here is a quick recap and few interviews I’ve compiled over the weekend:

You don’t want to miss out on the Sound Healing event in June with Torkomji – stay tuned for updates at It’s Time to Bloom.

The Future of Fashion Is Code, Not Couture

It’s hard to believe that this dress was built using a 3D printer. Designer Francis Bitonti has shifted how we look at the idea of creation. He is stepping outside of the box, throwing away the needle and thread (probably his Singer* as well). By teaming up with MakerBot, a New York-based company founded in January 2009, Bitonti has created a masterpiece of design entitled Cloud which was unveiled on April 4:

The capsule collection offers four decorative housewares, or rather, the code for these items. By modifying one aspect of the code, consumers can decide how much noise or relief appears on the surface of a vase or bowl, resulting in a customized purchase.

Francis Bitonti Studio will directly sell data files of 3D printables, beginning with home goods April 2014 and will transition into accessories Fall 2014.   Each item is customizable, and consumers have the option to use a sliding scale to adjust the look of the piece.

“Our aim is to embed the properties of digital media into physical realities,“ explained founder Francis Bitonti.  “We’ve created products that are hackable, shareable, and downloadable, which enables us to bring the consumer customizable, locally produced products on demand and without excess waste, resulting in a low-carbon foot print.”  After 3D printing, the product can be picked up directly from the hub producer or it can be locally shipped.  All products are designed to be printed on a MakerBot® Replicator® Desktop 3D Printer.
